Molly Weasley's Knit In
The Deluminators invite you to join us for Molly Weasley's Knit-In, a knitting marathon in support of Wrap With Love Inc! There are millions of people in the world suffering extreme cold. In 1992 Wrap with Love began with the idea to help as many people as possible by providing warm Wraps to ward off hypothermia and in the past 23 years we have sent more than 400,000 Wraps to people in over 75 countries, including Australia, with the help of our hardworking and generous volunteers. Just one square provides one twenty-eighth of warmth, and collectively, twenty-eight assembled squares create one whole warm and sheltering Wrap. On the 8th July this year, The Deluminators are hosting a special event in the spirit of Mrs Weasley, and Hermione, where you can knit for positive change in this world! ~ How It Works ~ A 'knit-in' is a day where lots of people come together to knit as many squares as we can all at once. The Deluminators will be providing materials (needles and wool) for anyone who registers online, which you can collect before the day if you want to get knitting early, or at the event (we'll have some extra available but you'll be much better registering before the day!). This is an important part of the event, as this goes towards distributing the finished blankets which is a world-wide endeavour! Registration costs $5, and when you register there will also be an option to purchase a Molly Weasley's Knit In limited edition T-Shirt, more details further down this page. You can knit in teams, on your own, or come along on your own and join a team! Team names are encouraged. There will be prizes for teams and individuals who achieve their goals, look great doing it, or even just have fun trying! Categories and prizes to be announced soon. Food/Drink: There will be snacks and hot and cold drinks avalible to purchase at the event (fundraising for Wrap With Love), but you will want to BYO for lunch food. We'd love to see you getting excited about the knit in on social media using the hashtag #weasleyknitin to share your preparation or progress (there will also be a social media prize!) Knitters of all skill level (or no skill!) are welcome, there will be lots of our volunteers around to help you and it's a great opportunity to learn. Don't forget, even if you don't know how to knit or don't think you're that great at it, we will have lots of talented volunteers more than happy to teach you on the day of the event as well, available all day to help out! One of the great things about this event is it enables you to learn to knit and continue to contribute to Wrap With Love if you choose to. We'd like to thank Roseville Community Centre and Roseville Kids Care for the use of the space and their support. Learn to knit before the day with our awesome, specially made KNITTING TUTORIAL VIDEO! Check it out below:
